ABOUT IRISH DANCE
Irish dance is the perfect balance of a graceful art form and an athletic sport. Dancers are given unique solo steps and movements that are cutting edge and follow the latest trends in step dancing. The steps are arranged in a way that beautifully match the music which is a very important element of Irish dance. The footwork is the primary focus while the arms are used minimally only in ceili (group) dances or in modern performance numbers. Additionally, Irish dance classes focus on the many traditional movements and dances that have been done the same way for hundreds of years. The Heartland Irish Dancers feel it is important to focus on both the modern and traditional sides of dance to create well rounded dancers.
