Owner and Lead Instructor
Emily Fuchs McCarty originally from Kansas City, MO, began Irish Dancing at the age of nine under the direction of Belfast native, Christine ORiada. Christine's background in Irish dance, ballet, and stage performance has been passed on and truly shines in Emily’s innovative approach to the art form. Known for combining Irish dance with elements of musical theater, unique themes, and current top songs while also encouraging an understanding of the history of the movements and dances, Emily is a teacher focused on the love of the dance as well as the culture!
Emily had a very successful competitive career in Irish dance having qualified for and placed at such elite competitions as the Mid-America Regional Championships (top 3 placement), North American Championships (top 20 placement), British Nationals (top 5 solo medalist), and the World Championships (top 30 placement). Additionally, Emily has truly enjoyed having the opportunity to perform throughout Kansas and Missouri with many world-renowned groups, including: The Chieftans, Irish Tenors, The Wolfe Tones, Black 47, Cherish the Ladies, Eileen Ivers, Gaelic Storm, and The Elders just to name a few!
After over 10 years of assisting with all levels of classes, in 2008 Emily earned her board certification (TCRG) from An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha (the Irish Dance Commission based out of Dublin, Ireland). Emily thoroughly enjoyed her time co-owning and co-directing an Irish dance school in Kansas City with her dear friend from 2010-2013 and after recently relocating to Cleveland, MO with her family, she now enjoys having the opportunity to introduce people to Irish dance in areas south of the Kansas City metro area with the Heartland Irish Dancers!
Prior to owning a dance school, Emily earned a BA in Psychology, worked in the Child Life Department at Children's Mercy Hospital, was a Project Manager at the Kansas Center for Autism and Training at KU Medical Center, and did ABA home therapy with kids on the Autism spectrum. Now when Emily is not teaching classes, she enjoys being a mom to her beautiful boys, Jay (11) and Eli (8) and spending time with her amazing husband, James.
